If you are reading this ‘origin story’ section (the so-called-boring section), there’s a high probability that you are one of those curious humans just like me! Who is the guy behind this weird blog? When exactly was this blog started? What was the purpose of starting this blog?
And yes, I hear you. I will try to make it short and sweet so that it’s worth both our time.
My name is Shivank and I started this blog in late 2020, the year of the pandemic. And no, this was not created just coz I needed a hobby during quarantine (fake smile). I had started working on this a while back, but quarantine made my full-time job switch to WORK FROM HOME mode, and that’s when I had a good chunk of time to utilize on this project.
The core idea of this project is to help working professionals navigate through the workplace BS and succeed at work. I hope to keep adding sub-projects under this core idea.
I have seen a lot of my colleagues – coming to the office every morning with a sense of regret (which they are aware of but don’t do anything about it), which makes me feel bad coz on the other side I have been lucky enough to find the right things at the right time, like finding out about digital marketing when I was 14 and I have been involved in this ever since. Then when I started working in the corporate environment at Unilever, almost within a year couple of thoughts started to bother me – Is my career even growing here? Am I unable to cope up with the work pressure or is my manager too manipulative? Is work-life balance a myth, coz I ain’t seeing this shit happen here?
I had a lot of questions, but no answers. And eventually, when our mind does not have any answers, it tends to forget the questions (Sniff). Quick fix indeed.
But one day, when I was traveling from Dubai airport I came across a book titled ‘The Rules of Work’. That one book changed my life. This book inspired me to that extent that I started to dig deep into the aspects taught in the book like hacks to become a manager, getting paid more, etc..etc.. and eventually found great interest in it.
I even applied a lot of these insights and it worked like a charm, it gave me those foundations to live by to succeed at work.
Thus, with the hope that this kinda knowledge reaches more people similar to me, I started this blog to build a community of people who are not just in the game for finding jobs but are also keen to crack the corporate code and make a kill at work!
Juggling between my 9-5 and this project, I currently work with two content writers (freelancers) who help me with the blog content in a hope that someday we will get back emails from our readers enthralled with joy exclaiming how the content they read here has changed their lives ๐
